"Look What They've Done To My Song, Ma!"

In the words of Mama Cass, and in a quote I've used before to introduce something that's been terribly altered and beyond my control...in googling my own name on Friday, a weird link I'd never seen before popped up rather prominently. At first it alarmed and angered me. Then it began to make me laugh out loud: how would you like to see your name connected to a domain called "brittany-stryker.assdickcunt(DOT)org"? LOL!

Yes folks...if clicked, a very impressive, legitimate blog-looking site comes up.

Here's a small particle of that-

Upon closer inspection, have a gander at what it says: it's all nonsense dutifully collected from 'bots' and 'webcrawlers' and using that information to make it look as though I'd posted a comment under my own name at a blog offering advice on workplace issues. Next- they use the name as a link, posted as a comment never made, to take you to the pretty green site above, but- Note! What you are seeing as I captured it, is what comes up WITHOUT JAVASCRIPT TURNED ON. WITH it, you'll be escorted to a VERY different-looking page altogether. You're redirected to a Russian porn site- (yep...the old "(dot)ru" strikes again, hijacking someone's site, then sticking in legitimate names they scrape off the net like so much dog doo off their shoes.)

And which ISP's are engaged in this as common practice? Here they are, taken right from their stupid hijacked garbage-

The Russian Federation
Ranet-net
caravan.ru

These are the jackals who redirect, collect cookies, and rake in advertizing dollars for the Russian porn business. Just take a look at this gobblety-gook: it's fragments of nothing unless, as I've said, you wander onto the site as an unwary surfer with your javascript operational. Then what you see is not this disconnected crap-text, but a porn gallery with pop ups you can't disentangle yourself from.

Just letting y'all know that if you come upon stuff like this by clicking on a link with my name it in- it ain't me. It's a pack of troglodyte, neanderthal, knuckle-scraping, hairy, ugly Russian gangstas who are shitting all over the net. Even in my own backyard. This particular group of devolved morons, apparently 'assigned' to Pennsylvania, as per their IP trace-

I had rented a film a few weeks ago, and last night watched the documentary "Why We Fight" by Eugene Jarecki; I am still reeling from the thing- never before have I seen so much brave and naked insight stacked together to make a bonfire of the domestic, populist, easy opinion of America. Never before has so much behind-the-scenes truth been told in one searing piece of film, and I wish more folks would watch it.

But as Gore Vidal comments early in the film, "Most people don't remember anything before Monday." It gave me much that I'd already guessed or surmised, but it also taught me things I never knew. I never knew for instance that Eisenhower in his television farewell address to the nation at the end of his two terms in office, used that time to warn of what he considered to be greatest threat to this county- and it was not Communism, not the Cold War- it was the build up of what Ike was first to call the 'military/industrial complex', cautioning us to keep an eye on that lest we become, in effect, a new Rome; that the idea that a 'standing army' brought with it great danger in that it signaled a growing imperialism.

I have said before that the reason this war goes on and on is because there is no draft; those caught in its great jaws can be looked upon as those who have chosen lives in the military, and the war they're now engaged in is merely the price of such a choice: no real blood on our hands, no threat to our own, just the luck of the draw. There has been a proliferation of recruitment propaganda targeting the young and less privileged- those without trust funds, struggling in this inflated economy- to enter the armed forces--a HUGE amount. Indeed, the only way imperialism or colonialism works is to have a ready legion to send wherever our national (read here 'economic') interests have need of them.

Our government is actually a tri-headed serpent: the executive branch, the corporate behemoths who court it, and a congress whose elected officials come from states where industry supplies the implements of making war-- the big players, multi-billion dollar industries like Halliburton and Kellogg, Brown and Root. Those giants have been very careful to spread themselves geographically ALL OVER the United States so the worst sort of scenario has been set up- across decades, with malice of forethought- whose aim is to insure the immorally weathy will remain so, and that their war machine remains deeply embedded and invisible to the average American by using a term coined by the CIA- "blowback"- which means distracting a people from knowing a thing's true purpose.

Of course there is much tossing about of words that work well as rallying cries: patriotism, freedom, democracy-- but those aren't the real words. The actual words are domination, intimidation, manipulation and proliferation of power. For this to work, the American people must continue to sleep- to keep their knee-jerk jingoist side kicking and be plied with fears of terrorism or the threat of another attack. Its propaganda plays emotional music and it flies the red, white and blue and floods the internet with emails showing pictures of decent soldiers doing their duty humbly, bravely- and under God. (This is not to imply that our soldiers do anything less- but that they USE that. They know what makes us tick. They have a lot vested in knowing- and God help us- their interest is in the oil of the Middle East and they need to keep us as a real presence there.) I don't think we'll be leaving anytime soon....

Put on your GLAD RAGS!....

Bill Moyers, one of the last truthful men, is returning to the televisions airwaves this week! First in a special on Wednesday evening at 9:00pm (check your local listings) in a PBS presentation, "Buying The War". Then, his regular time slot for 'Bill Moyer's Journal' on Fridays at 9:00pm. This week's topics: " the Justice Department's questionable firing of eight federal prosecutors _ and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' role in what appears to be political shenanigans. The program will also mark the fourth anniversary of "Mission Accomplished" - President Bush's landing on the banner-sporting aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and his pronouncement that "Major combat operations in Iraq have ended" - with help from investigative reporter Carlo Bonini, author of "Collusion: International Espionage and the War on Terror. In a commentary, Moyers will assess the war's crushing cost." Oh, thank God- he's 74 years old but back out of 'retirement', and slated for 99 consecutive shows to run through 2009. Go, Bill! Nothing in life keeps us as young or as vital as being candid and questioning-- that's a force to be reckoned with, alright. (I'd imagine there are a lot of White House characters pretty snarly over this.) "What? HIM again!!"

And without ever washing his hands, he asks the question "What is truth?"- and gives us an answer too. I love you, Mr. Moyers. Right down to the ground. If you ask me what went right about this Monday- what made me happy, I'll cite that. It's nice to know where I'll be and what I'll be doing on Wednesday night at 9:00- and every Friday at that time for the next two years. I'm usually slinking off to bed, rather bored and defeated at that time each week; now there's something to look forward to- and I love fireworks- don't you?

The Perfect Spot for Old 'PissPot XII'

Sometimes you read a news story that is just so bizarre you gotta share it. And how pleased I am to share with you what a local news station has dug up right here in western Pennsylvania....

Fitting Display for the former Pontiff

Know what my fella had to say about that when I emailed this link to him this morning? "Morphine addict; Nazi lover; in line for canonization..." LOL!! (It's the truth too!) And he dug this up as well, when I told him I knew nothing about plans for making this former Vicar of Christ a bonafide saint: " "The cause of Pope Pius XII's canonization was opened in 1965. On September 2, 2000, during the pontificate of Pope John Paul II, Pius's cause for canonization was elevated to the level of Venerable. Rome's Chief Rabbi Elio Toaff also began promoting the cause of Pius to receive such posthumous recognition from Yad Vashem as a "righteous gentile". The Boy Scouts of America named the highest Catholic Award after him."

Now, I don't know about you- but the term 'righteous gentile' strikes me as a veiled, tongue-in-cheek slur.......as though the thought would be so rare, one would have to be singled out in some way, perhaps wear a large sign to clue in the rest of the folks. lol.....I love it!

I do not however, have any admiration or fondness for the pope I remember shepherding the church while I was in grammar school. What I do remember is a searing play by Herman Hochhuth, called 'The Deputy'- which was required reading when I was in high school (thanks to the courage of a fearless, brilliant lay teacher who later got his ass in a sling for giving us Jerzy Kocinski's 'The Painted Bird' to read, and nearly losing his job over it. Thank you, Bobo- wherever you are!) I recall some historic background in the front of the paperback play that told of Adolf Hitler's irrational and almost superstitious fear of the pontiff. Had Pope Pius XII made an lambasting outcry against what was happening to the Jews of Europe, I do believe less would have met with gas chambers and cattle cars. I believe that. He was a colossal coward. Did indeed 'abuse drugs'- (for his 'nerves', of course)- and about all you can say is that Pius XII did all he could to further the Fatima cult. (Perhaps he- like Judas- thought that he was helping to bring about what was prophesized- the end of the world and the return of Christ to earth- seeing WWII as a means to that end.)

All that being said, I think being hung in a latrine is a pretty good shrine for the old doper. My only suggestion would be to hang the portrait a little lower.

April 26, 2007~ 6:45am
Missed Moyers altogether. Was in bed last night at 5:30pm. Just one of those 'down days'- I seem to be having a lot of them, and didn't have the stamina to get riled up over things I already know-- how the media collaborated with the White House on charging into this war by either its acquiescense or its failure to report the opposing view, or by reporting unfounded rumors of WMD.

Lord knows I wrote and grieved and gnashed teeth enough four years ago, when the lunacy of sending ground troops seemed to be the craziest, riskiest, dumbest and deadliest thing I'd ever heard of- to say nothing of it being unwarranted by the allegations at the time. It seemed that any fool could tell there was something nefarious afoot when we wouldn't wait for the blessings of the United Nations to back an invasion.....

This is all water under the bridge. With an ever-mounting body count and congress entangled in argument over whether to 'stay and surge'- whether to pull out, it's heart-breaking and maddening to know we should not have gone in in the first place. Yesterday was a day I simply couldn't look at it yet again, despite the marvelous courage of Mr. Moyers to do just that. Life is a pomegranate. Delicious, exotic--filled with the seeds of its own destruction.

On a lighter note- Pittsburgh is once again

America's 'most livable city'- after 22 years. In 1985 we topped the list, and again yesterday. (One criterion is the availability of 'art'.........SEE! that Pius Pisspot in the bathroom did some good after all!)

April 28, 2007~ 7:45am
Yesterday somebody called me "baby" while doing a hustler/salesman routine trying to make it through the phone lines to my boss, and I slammed the phone back into its cradle. "BAY-BEE! I don't have TIME for this!"- then WHAM! I have no control whatsoever over my response when someone pushes certain buttons- and "baby", in combination with a hurried, dismissive tone- "too busy to explain- "I'm important here- why are you standing in my way you silly twit" (or twat as may be construed here)- will do it every time.

You want to get on my last nerve? You want to see me throw Thor's hammer right through someone's face?- Try that, and let the fuckin' chips fall where they may.

NO ONE gets to do that to me- no one. Unless you're Humphrey Bogart and I'm Lauren Bacall, that kind of macho crap is totally unacceptable in the work place. Play tough guy?

You'll get a spitfire Bette Davis flung right back at you, big eyes bulging. Some things are hard-wired with me. That is one of 'em.
