Here is the happy face of Thanksgiving past~ and the face that greeted me as I entered my daughter's house the night before the feast...

three year old Kay, wearing a TURKEY HAT she made in pre-school. Proud as a peacock she was, too. My son Matt, his wife Nickie, and their three sons and baby girl Shiloh, all drove in from West Point, N.Y. and stayed the weekend at my daughter's house, so it was a kid-filled holiday, to be sure. (God bless Holly. She's a great cook, and a gracious hostess.)

Lots of moments frozen for me. Pictures from the day...there was the time waiting for the bird to cook

there was the 8 month old Shiloh, devouring news as she waited, Kay looking big-eyed and lively

and of COURSE...the PIES, waiting for forks and whipped cream

and there's the grandsons lending their gourmand expertise to the "scrutiny of the pies" as we all waited for the BIRD TO "POP"- which he did, his little plastic pop-up timer activated like a champagne cork out of its bottle

which of course, signaled the donning of strange, aproned apparel and commencement of THE TURKEY DANCE!- hands thrust into the dual-oven mittens built right in......LOL!!

Yep. That's Holly, the chief cook and bottlewasher, and husband Gary doing a kind of 'Pips' routine as her back-up. LOL!! Thanksgiving is noisy... smells wonderful... always crowded and full of energy- a raucous, rowdy, happy holiday to be sure. Hope yours was delicious-- relaxing-- and full of what the holiday is supposed to be about--- giving thanks. For eachother, for life, for memories-- and lots of fattening food. (The extra belt hole move is worth it, believe me.)

Here's what may be my favorite picture of all time....

Yep. That can be anything tender and impossible to describe.

That's what love is.

It's huge...a bonding of the unmatchable groping after something large- and the indescribable peace when you find it.

If ever there was a photographic metaphor for friendship, love...... that's it.

Ahhhhhhhhhh.....I am OFF FROM WORK. For the next SEVEN DAYS, nothing but reading, sleeping, online Christmas shopping....in other words.....sloth. (And since it's official vacation time, I'm getting paid for it!) I AM SLOTH!!

(And hey! Doesn't that little guy remind you of Charles Laughton? Same down-sloped eyes, round face...ah... little coconut head.)

And that man was- hands down- one of the premier actors of ALL TIME. I've loved everything he's done. He even directed one of my favorite films- "The Night Of The Hunter". (For more Laughton facts, have a gander at this. A remarkable man. Can raise chills, even now.)

(But back to the sloth issue, I truly am a lazybones. LOL!!) My favorite new creature is the animal itself. Goodness! What a charmer....

That's me, alright. In my cozy box for seven days-- grinning my head off. Nails too long and in need of clipping... could use a shave.....but a smile stretched across my face and ready to pull the flaps down and enjoy some private time. For a terrific look at these lovable creatures, please stop in here and see Buttercup, the Queen of SLOTHS. (Now we're talkin!) That gal knows how to LIVE! She's got the right idea.....a hammock, a smile.....and thee, dear reader. That's all we need.

Friday, I do intend to make a day of it with my honey. Breakfast out, seeing some local sites- probably tromping around local cemeteries with Revolutionary War tombstones. That oughta be neat, bundled up against the cold-- the world stark and wintery, staring down at history. My cup of tea exactly.

Of course tonight and tomorrow.....slooooooooooth. Extreeeeeeeme sloth. LOL.
