Still wrestling with my old computer and decided to throw in the towel and allow AOL to inject its bloated offal into my operating system. It appears (at least for now) to be the only way they'll let me actually make it online- via their adaptor, which has swallowed CompuServe whole.

Even when I uninstall and reinstall, after about 4 log in's, it becomes stubborn as a mule and refuses to connect. (At least I don't allow my 'window.ini' file ANY say so, and have disabled all of it in my configuration. My computer lets ONLY the 'system.ini' to load when I power up. 'Windows'--- 'Microsoft'-- is the devil, and the less you allow it into your life, the freer you are.)

That said, someone sent me the most heartwarming email this week. You've probably seen it at some point or other, but if you haven't- this is a perfect tableau of how things should be in the 'peaceable kingdom', a nirvana of which I heartily wish mankind were a part.

The pictures are from Alaska-- (yes, there are some good things that come out of Alaska, Ms. Palin notwithstanding)-- and it shows the way creatures find it within themselves to get along with one another despite what nature might predict.

This polar bear wandered in range of some huskies who were part of a camp. The owner snapped these shots when it became clear that slaughter was not on the mind of this remarkable visiting giant......

just goes to show you, there's always surprises in life

and curiosity.....and bravery.....

.....and joy......

.....and love. Acceptance. Peace. "I come in peace....."

and isn't it wonderful when miracles happen? I thought with the holidays fast upon us, this is a message to take into our hearts: Lion and Lamb. Prince of Peace....Light of the World......"and a little child"......(or a bear and a dog)... shall lead us. Happy early Merry Christmas, with all the affection in the world.

Bill is now 5 years old, and kindergarten had their "SECRET SANTA SHOPPE"-- and it was open for business! When I visited on Friday to babysit and watch "Barbie's Christmas Carol"- (Kay's choice)- and "Starwars: The Empire Strikes Back" (Bill's choice)- Bill was jumping all over the room with glee while wearing new flannel STAR WARS pajamas. "MOM bought these for me! They're BRAND NEW! It was PAJAMA DAY at school!!!" (Sure wish we had pajama day at work.) He couldn't WAIT to tell me that he did his shopping

and got me a gift....."and one for PapPap Wayne....and and and and".......(oh, he was elfin and gleeful, just busting at the seams to tell) although he knew the 'Secret Santa' had something to do with actually keeping a secret. LOL!!

"I'm not supposed to tell you what I got you, but I can tell you what I bought for Wayne, right? That'd be ok, right? " "Sure, Bill. I won't tell him." He broke into a smile like the sun.

Jumping up and down- "IT'S A PEN! A PEN!!! I GOT PAP PAP WAYNE A PEN!"

"WOW, Bill!! He'll be TICKLED with that! I'm sure he needs a pen. What a GREAT GIFT!"--Bill continued to beam. "And I could tell you what I got you too. Would that be alright? Could I tell you that, and maybe you'll forget it anyway-- could I?" LOL!! The boy knows me well.....

"Bill you can tell me and I'll still act VERY SURPRISED when I open it. It's not like seeing it right now, is it? You can tell me." Bill shot up in candlepower and lit the room. "EARRINGS! 'Cause you never wear them and you mustn't have any, and they're loops. Gold LOOPS!!!!" Then...looking worried......"Are your ears pierced?" ROFLMAO!!

"Nope. But I'll stick PINS IN THESE EARS if I have to....." "Mum," my daughter said, "they sell kits for wearing pierced earrings if your ears aren't pierced-- maybe I can pick one up."

"I think I have one, Holl......" (I think I did at one time)-- but superglued, taped or skewered RIGHT THROUGH, those earrings are going on on Christmas Day, that's for sure!

It was so wonderful to watch him even happier GIVING than getting. That's the best Christmas gift of all...for me, anyway. Joy is priceless.....and so is that kid. :)

I have fallen in love with an artist's website! It's delicate, sorta creepy- like something out of a child's nightmares and dreams- and I'm more than a little convinced it taps into the collective unconsciousness pretty effectively. It brings back childhood. Feast your eyes on

"~Boy In The Water~"- the delightful, evocative site of artist, Miran Kim. I savored every image. What a find. There you go..........another early Christmas present. Step into pure imagination. Have a swim in there.
