Easter's come early this year, yet the flowers are blooming and the days dazzle with sun. We've been fortunate to have a beautiful spring thus far- and the diadem in spring's cap is always the Easter holiday.

My soon-to-be-husband brought Carol's Confections foil-wrapped easter egg chocolates and a BIG BOX of fudge, and a lovely card. (The first that says, 'to my wife'- and that tickled me pink!) Easter afternoon will find me picking up my mother and driving her to nephew Michael's house to indulge in ham, rigatoni, potato salad, deviled eggs.... LOTS of GOOD, GOOD food. (I can almost taste that ham right now. Like the turkey at Christmas, ham is the crowning glory at Easter.)

(Besides the EASTER BUNNY, of course!)

Hopefully, Holly and Gary and the grandkids will show up while I'm there. Young families always have a few stops on these holidays, so I hope our timetables coincide. Wayne has chosen to stay put and relax on this day, but we ate out on both Friday and Saturday- even enjoyed a movie Friday evening. (I have all the Oscar nominated films in my queue at Netflix but they're unavailable or 'out'... and I'd completely forgotten I'd added this one a while back.)

I'd never heard of it, but the actors were all wonderful- (and as Wayne said, "Isn't Naomi Watts in every scary movie?" LOL!! Just about, I think.) I know she was in 'The Ring'-- her acting is superb in anything she does. Daniel Craig, the new 'James Bond'-- and Rachel Weisz are certainly no pikers either, so I had high hopes for the film and wasn't disappointed in the least. It's a ghost story about a murdered family with two little girls...

but it's also a suspense tale, and surprised me at every turn. Just as I thought I had it all figured out and had chalked things up to fairly 'pat' plot models, it turned my theories on their head. It's creepy. Even had me physically jumping a couple of times, and the acting is edge of the seat. (Since I've not read anything about it or heard people talking it up-- I say, 'rent it'. It certainly deserves more notice than it's gotten.)

Yes, Easter's here. Go dig out your most outrageous hat

(isn't that JUST the BEST? LOL!! The only thing could make it more eye-catching would be a REAL chick or duckling stuffed in there.)

Oh, it's the fun holiday for getting dressed up ... I remember the straw hats with sprigs of silk flowers, patent-leather shoes that always felt too tight and 'pinchy' ... with the crinkle of more than a few petticoats hiding underneath it all. It's the time for pickled eggs and colorful Easter straw-- with the sun warm, the breeze a bit too cool --and the excitement of wearing an all new outfit and feeling pretty. Hope your day brings memories, happiness..... and GOOD FOOD! Yum! LOTS OF IT! :)

Easter 2012 has come and gone. And FOOD!!! My goodness the food FAR exceeded my expectations....it was mouth-watering scrumptious! I picked mum up promptly at 2:00pm, and we motored on over to Michael and Mary Ann's house and laughed and talked and ate and ate and ate.

Ah.... what could be sweeter?

(There was even whipped potatoes, gravy and stuffing balls!) I'd never seen those before, but it's balls of homemade stuffing, basted in cream of mushroom soup and butter, then baked. They were heavenly eating. The ham melted in our mouths, and a HUGE fresh fruit salad, coleslaw, asparagus and corn, homemade gnocci and meatballs......LOL!!! And the desserts went on and on. (Sadly, this ninny FORGOT her 'goodie bag'-- I could still be eating that wonderful stuff except for my absent-mindedness. DRAT!)

Here's a couple of shots of Holly, Bill and Kay

and CLOSER HERE,
so you can see those fabulous faces.

(I wish I'd have gotten a shot of Holly's shoes.) They were four inch royal blue, satiny platform heels, and she looked about a mile tall to me! Then.... FINALLY, I got a shot of the '4 Generations'- all four gals together

me, Holly, mum and little Kay...60, 38, 92 and 6.... what a sweep of years! I'm so grateful that Mary Ann snapped it for us in the kitchen. I always, always forget. (I do regret the overhead lighting, though. Man! Do I look OLD! lol!!! Puffy and 'many-chinned'.) And if mum were here, she'd be punching my arm right now....."Old!!! I'm OLD!" she'd be saying.

The weather was beautiful, everyone had a great time... and EASTER 2012 is now part of history. Time dashes on.

I just realized this morning that I had forgotten to post my FAVORITE piece of chocolate of all time.... the one my daughter gave me, all grins, on Easter.

MILK CHOCOLATE DENTURES from SARRIS Candies!

(Thank god I took a picture. That was consumed the minute I got home on Easter night.) It was delicious! LOL!
