This week's blog is all HOLLY, all the time! First off, she's the best daughter a mother could have, but secondly.... she's one of the funniest people I know and never fails to make me laugh.
On Thursday, she sent me a 'New Listing!' email with a link to her Etsy shop. She's created the most arresting necklace....

Would ya look at that! Like something caught in amber, delicate and lovely. Here's a link to some other views of that beautiful piece.
Battygirl Enterprises
That girl is ALWAYS up to something. LOL!!! On Friday I emailed a link to a 'Pier 1' old training film that's been making the rounds on the internet this week. It made me howl. The staff is portrayed as comically MANIC... and the forced 'rap' is as dated as can be. Naturally... I told her her 'assignment' was to perform this with the kiddoes for our visit Saturday evening and damned if she didn't email back a couple hours later: she had PHOTOS of the script she'd typed out, with extra copies highlighted for Kay and Bill. LOL!!! And on Saturday evening we got the 'command performance', which was a delight! (The two grandkids greeted us as we pulled up in the car wearing blue 'PIER 1' aprons. It was GRAND!) This is especially 'topical' because it's Holly's 15th year with them, and she does remember watching that 'Let's Engage' pep talk.
(If you're curious about the actual video, it can be found on The Huffington Post

by clicking on my 'doctored' photo of smiling staff members. Seriously, I think someone should put that video in a time capsule. You'll never see its like again..... thank God. LOL!!)
All joking aside, I have to confess that I've not put one foot inside that store since Holly has worked there..... I'm afraid my compulsive buying would bankrupt me. I know there's one gal I work with who had to cut up her Pier 1 card because she was buying everything she saw. That's easy to do.... the store has such lovely stuff... truly unique.
(And that's a perfect segue into showing you my belated birthday gifts, presented Saturday evening during our visit. (Yep. 'Pier 1' all the way.)

A gift that's perfectly timed for the SPOOKABLE season..... a SPIDER CANDELABRA with two sparkly purple spiders, and a bride and groom smiling skeleton couple. (Me and Wayne.... lol)

Those are SO ADORABLE! They cheered me considerably, because by THIS Halloween husband and I will be co-habiting and celebrating FALL... the best, BEST time of the year!
No movies for the weekend, just a long, wonderful extra Labor Day sloth-fest for me. (I intend to hole up for the holiday itself and do nuthin except sleep and read.) Aaaaaaaand...... enjoy looking at my OTHER birthday gift from Holly and family. A real cutie they picked up at the beach on vacation last week. Her plump happiness just makes me smile.....

Isn't she GREAT??? There's something so sweet and comforting about an ample lady grinning her head off and not giving a sh*t about what the scale says. It's just her and the sun. I love her! She's pleased as punch, propped there on the edge of my dining room table. She's behind me right now. BABY'S GOT BACK!

That's ME today. LOL!!! The 'lady of leisure'. I did precisely what I had intended and slept when I wanted to, got up when I wanted to, read 'The Diviner's Tale', a marvelous book about water-witching wrapped around a 'murder/ghost' story, I drew another 'no directions' doodle and wrote a poem, surfed the internet, washed and set my hair..... I JUST LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.
This was a decidedly UN-Labor Day. (I truly felt cheated when I didn't get my day to simply vegetate when I took 2 days off for my birthday only to find BOTH days had me at the car dealership dealing with their damned snafu's) -so today was one of total rest in its place.
And I don't feel a bit guilty. (That's one of the advantages of being a complete slug, lacking all ambition. YOU NEVER FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT.) It just 'is'... like Pooh. LOL!!!

Thought I was done blogging for the night, but I just opened an email from Holly, and- true to what I said above, this week is 'ALL HOLLY, ALL THE TIME'. That gal has such a soft heart for critters, here's the latest (the email titled, 'Charles')
And here HE IS!

He's a handsome devil, broken wing or not. (Hey! That's a 'theme' of Holly's now. "WINGS". She touches my heart a hundred times a day.)

"We spotted this guy waddling around the neighborhood and hiding under cars. He has a broken left wing. We caught him, put him in a crate lined with newspaper, and after a bit of googling, found pigeonchat.net. It had detailed instructions on setting a wing, so we tried our best. I decided that a holiday weekend would make it very difficult to find a rehab place for him, and I thought the wing should probably be set before Tuesday. Keep Charles in your thoughts. He really is quite sweet. XOXO, Hol"
