Weblog 345

Hmmmmmm.....why am I so late this week? The answer to that is very easy. Blogger, gobbled up by Google LONG after Blogger itself enjoyed a very happy history as a web-based journaling application on its own, decided to PULL THE PLUG on the old interface this past weekend..... GET YOUR T-SHIRTS NOW!

It's left those of us with older browsers that function well other than in the most CODE INTENSIVE, javascript-dependent sites, and even those with far newer browsers... when trying to access Blogger in its newest incarnation, they're nevertheless 'broken'; we've been left high and dry, unable to connect or log in.
Other than while at work (such as early this morning)... I am irrevocably and finally cut off.
This may very well be my last post in Blogger. I'm looking for an alternate site at this point, but I wanted one last entry (and of course, a LINK to the new site when it's finally ready.) Unless I find a workaround, this may be my 'swan song' as a Blogger member.
.
All that being said, I still had a productive, happy weekend. Friday WAS 'pizza night' once again, so I saw the grandkids and laughed and talked with my daughter. (It does my soul good to see those folks. Always a HUGE pick-me-up.) Oh, and Charles the pigeon is still with the Wild Life people, holding his own-- wing-taped and on antibiotics. So far.... so good.
Then on Saturday, Wayne and I at last overcame our reluctance to begin to tackle this old house of mine in order to facilitate his move here at the end of October. Despite what surely must be 'invisible signs' on the back bedroom doors that say

we ventured into THE HEART OF DARKNESS and cleaned and coughed and chucked great bulging, heavy heaps of JUNK out of there and carried it curbside... (one room's worth anyway.) The other room is more or less 'bagged', but we'll wait until next weekend to give it the heave-ho and lug it out to the end of the carport. (I don't want to scare the garbage men away for good and keeps this first time around. LOL!!!) Secretly, I think Wayne's expression when I opened those doors may have looked something like this.

BLAIR WITCH terrified of what all might be hiding in there. (Papa san chair, old TV, a spare air conditioner, bags and bags of clothing and bedding and towels from when mum's household was broken up, TWO spin dry tumbler appliances that I bought online when my washer went 'bust', old stuffed animals, suitcases and ice chests, an exercise bike, you name it.......... you would have FOUND it.)
All evening long we sneezed and blew out grayish gunk from our noses. I..... (naturally).... sweated like a stevedore DESPITE the cool, fall weather. "Kay...... can you help me grab this?" "Just a minute, Wayne. Gotta mop this sweat. It's BLINDING me."
After lo these 22 years of collecting 'stuff' and living alone, feeling (to be truthful) a bit eccentric and freaky and yes, lonely quite often....

at LONG LAST, I am connected heart, soul, and body to someone who's stepping in to share this space with me. We're two oddballs and nicely suited. We laugh at most things and rant and rave at the same politics, we love to talk and watch movies together, read and share what we're reading.... oh it's going to be a LOVELY late fall and winter for us. A strange place surely, but one

that will be a cozy sort of haven for loners such as we. Knick-knacks, books and ideas galore, watching the leaves fly and the snow fall. AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....
Since I'd used up both my Netflix for this month (and because the local Family Video Store pulled up stakes a few weeks back) I had only my own pile of DVD's for us to choose a film to watch on Saturday evening. A couple years back, I'd picked up one from the sale pile at the local Giant Eagle market, eager to show Wayne this 'great classic horror film' we'd have on tap.

In the car that night, he took one look at the case I'd pulled out of my bag while grinning at him and said,"Oh Kay, that's CRAP." LOL!!!! We never watched it. (In point of fact, I thought it was some other film I'd heard mention of, so we never even cut into the cellophane wrapper until Satuday evening.)
He was right..... IT'S CRAP! CRAP TO THE TENTH DEGREE. GARBAGE B-MOVIE JUNK FOOD THAT A STARVING FILM JUNKIE WOULDN'T SAMPLE..... but we did! And it was SO corny, so remarkably BAAAAAAD that we laughed hard and often.
Some things are so terribly bad, they're good. "Carnival Of Souls" is one of them. It's a slice of early 60's America... 'easily fooled, easily scared' and charmingly naive. As always, the two of us managed to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. (And here's hoping that extends to our home as well.)
Oh, and BLOGGER... KISS MY ASS.

Sayonara, BLOGGER.
From now on, you'll find me at the New Place.

Yep. click on that.
I've LOVED Blogger, but being able only to blog from work is unfair both to me and my employer.
I don't know what I'm going to do about my other blogs in Blogger yet, but for right now, LiveJournal is my solution for this Karisma spot.
For those who've enjoyed reading here, you have my sincerest, heartfelt gratitude. :) Bye now.
